Training Courses

September 13 - September 16
Vision for System II Instruments

This course is recommended for individuals responsible for collecting sample spectra, modeling data, and performing routine analysis of products. This course, through a combination of lecture and hands-on exercises, explores the theory of NIR, the application of theory through instrumentation, acquiring sample spectra, application of math pre-treatments and population structuring techniques available in Vision, the development of qualitative and quantitative models, and the application of those models in a routine analysis environment.

September 13 - September 16
Vision Refresher Classes

Anyone who has previously attended one of our Vision classes is invited to attend one of the regularly scheduled Vision Classes (Vision for System II Instruments or Vision for XDS Instruments) at a significantly reduced cost.

September 17 - September 17
Interpreting Diagnostic Reports & Instrument Troubleshooting

This class is recommended for all FOSS NIRSystems instrument users (for both System II and XDS Instruments). This in-depth class explores the interpretation of Vision generated diagnostic reports and graphs as well as the correlations of those results to potential hardware and/or environmental issues.

September 20 - September 23
Vision for XDS Instruments

This course is recommended for individuals responsible for collecting sample spectra, modeling data, and performing routine analysis of products. This course, through a combination of lecture and hands-on exercises, explores the theory of NIR, the application of theory through instrumentation, including Reference Standardization and Instrument Calibration, acquiring sample spectra, application of math pre-treatments and population structuring techniques available in Vision, the development of qualitative and quantitative models, and the application of those models in a routine analysis environment.

Vision Refresher Classes

Anyone who has previously attended one of our Vision classes is invited to attend one of the regularly scheduled Vision Classes (Vision for System II Instruments or Vision for XDS Instruments) at a significantly reduced cost.

September 28 - September 30
XDS Process Instruments & Communication Protocols

This course is specially designed for XDS process instrument users. The course starts with instrument setup, fiber and probe considerations, Reference Standardization, Instrument Calibration, routine diagnostics and instrument monitoring. It is followed by 2 days of process communications covering OPC, Modbus, Profibus, Devicenet, DF1, and other digital protocols.

October 11 - October 14
Vision for XDS Instruments

This course is recommended for individuals responsible for collecting sample spectra, modeling data, and performing routine analysis of products. This course, through a combination of lecture and hands-on exercises, explores the theory of NIR, the application of theory through instrumentation, including Reference Standardization and Instrument Calibration, acquiring sample spectra, application of math pre-treatments and population structuring techniques available in Vision, the development of qualitative and quantitative models, and the application of those models in a routine analysis environment.

October 18 - October 19
Advanced Qualitative Analysis

Libraries, Identification, and Qualification only! What can you do when product identifications are ambiguous? How many products should be in a Library? When should you put products in a separate Library? Is this a difference in suppliers or is it a wrong product? What can be done when you have both organic and aqueous products in a Library? These questions and more will be discussed during the Advanced Qualitative Analysis Vision class. Customers are encouraged to bring their own data; however, data is available for all hands-on exercises.

October 20 - October 21
Advanced Quantitative Analysis

This Vision course is dedicated to developing calibration equations and designed for users with at least 2 years of experience with Vision. Learn how the approach you chose for Sample Selection is important to the type of regression to be used; when to chose MLR and when to chose PLS; how many samples do you need; what type of range is required; what areas of the spectrum to ignore during regression, and what math treatment to chose. Customers are encouraged to bring their own data; however, data is available for all hands-on exercises.

October 25 - October 28
Instrument Maintenance & Repair for XDS Instruments

This course is recommended for service personnel or those responsible for maintaining FOSS NIRSystems XDS instrumentation on-site. A combination of lecture, discussion and hands-on exercises explores system and subsystem functionality, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests, replacement and alignment of critical parts, system error codes, and evaluating the instrument electrical system. Emphasis is on maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.

October 29 - October 29
Vision Operator Training for XDS Instruments

This basic class is recommended for all FOSS NIRSystems XDS instrument operators. It includes all aspects of instrument diagnostics available to the operator, password configuration, sample presentation considerations and the routine analysis of products by NIR.
